After playing 75 gigs during a very successful festive season, the boys from Acoustic Element and ALT EGO enjoyed a deserved break in January. However, they’re already aiming for bigger and better in 2018!

To say our festive season was busy would be an understatement! We were booked for 75 gigs over the summer holidays – averaging more than 10 bookings a week. From entertaining corporate year-end functions to being apart of fun events, we really enjoyed entertaining thousands of people at the various venues across South Africa.
Our favourite moment was the New Year’s Eve event at the One and Only Hotel. We co-ordinated the evening’s entertainment at the hotel and also performed the final set of the year and took more than 850 people into 2018 on the perfect note!
Our first song for the year was the cover of “Something Just Like This” by Coldplay & The Chainsmokers. And this was followed by the Cape Minstrels parading through the hotel and taking the guests to see the fireworks. DJ Cosher then continued the party until the early hours of the morning.
Other cool gigs this season was playing at Discovery’s year-end function at the Castle in Cape Town and Sandton City in Johannesburg. We also did a very cool private gig at the Predators Tank at the Aquarium, where we played in front of Sharks. At this event, we performed alongside the likes of Siv Ngesi, The Black Ties and G&T.
And as per usual, We were also honoured to have played in many beautiful & illustrious weddings at venues such as the Arabella Hotel, Cavalli Estate & Boschendal Wine Estate.

After launching ALT EGO’s “Embrasse Moi” music video, we were able to enjoy a few weeks off the stage and rejuvenate.
Callen’s enjoying a wonderful holiday with his mom in Bali, while Jody took some time out in Langebaan with his significant other Savanah. Jody also spent time focused on preparing for a busy 2018.
We start our calendar year on exciting note with our third appearance at Cafe Roux on 16 February. Having enjoyed two sold-out shows before, we’re definitely aiming for a hat-trick!
We love performing at this venue as we enjoy an intimate connection with the crowd. We can’t wait to entertain their guests again… from the first song to the legendary after party.

Looking ahead, we have big plans for 2018, which includes new music (we’ll be working hard in the studio behind the scenes), new projects and international plans! More importantly, we’re really enjoying the ride. While it’s great achieving so many amazing things, we love the build-up to each goal and achievement just as much.
