Acoustic Element

A WEEKEND OF SOLD-OUT SHOWS AND MASSIVE CROWDS

This past weekend proved to hold more career highlights for Acoustic Element as they celebrated their third sold-out show at Cafe Roux on Friday, while they played in front of their biggest crowd to date with over 30 000 people in the stands at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

WHAT A WEEKEND!

It started off with our third show at Cafe Roux on Friday night.

After two sold-out shows in 2017, we were excited to work with the Cafe Roux family again, who host one of the most sought-after entertainment venues in Cape Town. And it warmed our hearts when they notified us that the concert was sold out for a third time in a row.

We stuck to our winning formula – starting the show with an acoustic set and ending it off with a more vibey Alt Ego set. It’s always great to have Cosher on stage with us… he adds so much value to our performances.

People generally enjoy the initial “more chilled” set because it works well with the intimate setting, but after a few drinks, the event turns into a turn up and gets wild! We literally had people dancing on tables.

We changed our set list quite a bit while on stage. We introduced some new house and dance music, while we also identified that our crowd was a bit older this time, so we did remixes of the Jackson 5’s “ABC” as well as Michael Jackson’s “Man In The Mirror”. This was positively received by those in attendance.

We were very humbled to receive a standing ovation at the end of the performance… and even received a rumbling encore once we left teh stage. How could we say no? We returned to continue the party and did one more song – “Something Just Like This” (which was our New Year’s Day song).

Looking back, each Cafe Roux show has been special. But the one last weekend was definitely our personal favourite.

We had a fun time playing South African tunes in celebration of our new president Cyril Ramaphosa, which will hopefully create an exciting new chapter for our country.

And the weekend highlights didn’t stop there…

We were booked to play at the New Apostolic Church Youth Mass event at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.

It was a “full circle” moment for us as we learned to play our instruments in the church’s orchestra. Our first media feature was also focused on our gig at a fundraiser for the church. So we were proud to play in front of the New Apostolic youth congregation and the church leaders.

It was a daunting experience – with over 30 000 people in the stands, it was our biggest audience to date! We even had butterflies while doing the sound-check rehearsals!

And we were proud to receive a positive reception from the crowd, who enjoyed our music. We even played alongside Idols 2017 winner Paxton, who’s an amazing performer and sweet individual.

These two events created a memorable weekend and definitely fueled our ambitions as we aim for more career highlights in 2018.

If you’re hoping to watch us live in the next few weeks, feel free to see us at the One and Only Hotel in Cape Town. We also have a few weddings and corporate gigs lined up, including the Investec Gala Dinner.

When not on stage, you’ll find us in the studio, recording some new material. Stay tuned for exciting announcements and future release!
